Innocence

.
Guy Davidi 2022

Making war relies on storytelling—a crucial tool for legitimizing military force. Israel has perfected this, using its history as persecuted Jews and status as a democracy to bolster its PR. But before promoting this narrative globally, it must be sold to the nation’s children. As moral corruption linked to apartheid intensifies, avoiding military service is viewed as a threat. Innocence tells the story of children who resisted enlistment but ultimately served and died. Narrated through their haunting diaries, the film weaves together first-hand military footage, childhood memories, and home videos of soldiers whose stories remain silenced as a national threat.
