A Symphony for a Common Man (Sinfonia de um homem comum)

.

The US invasion of Iraq in 2003, justified by false claims of weapons of mass destruction, was driven by a desire for regime change and oil interests. The US crushed efforts to prevent the war, including negotiations led by José Bustani, director of the OPCW, on Iraq’s membership. When Bustani refused to halt talks, the US launched a smear campaign, using false accusations of mismanagement to pressure OPCW members to remove him. This successful campaign serves as a warning about American abuse of power, as Bustani and others reflect nearly two decades later.
