Motherboard

.

Motherboard is a feature documentary on motherhood, filmed over 20 years by BAFTA-winning director Victoria Mapplebeck. At 38, single and broke, Victoria turned the camera on herself and her son, Jim, capturing hundreds of hours across five smartphone generations. From Jim’s first thumbs-up on her ultrasound to his college years, Victoria documents their single-parent journey, including joyful moments, holidays, and birthdays, as well as harder times: her breast cancer diagnosis, Jim’s struggles with depression, and a strained reunion with his father. Motherboard offers a raw, relatable view of motherhood, celebrating resilience amid life’s highs and lows.
